Established in 1998 to honor a Gateway veteran and good friend who embodied the true spirit of community theater.
Since 1998 Gateway Players has awarded the Bill Mastro Memorial Scholarship each year to a college bound senior as a way of encouraging the arts among our youth and rewarding Gateway youth for their hard work and support, both on stage and/or behind the scenes.
The application consists of a brief essay, along with information about theater experience- both on stage and back stage- and other community and school activities. Points are awarded for theater related activities. The recipient does not have to be a theater major.
The $500 scholarship is paid by check issued in January for the second semester after providing us with first semester transcripts.
The purpose of the scholarship is to recognize the importance of the arts and to acknowledge the student’s participation and dedication.
Applications are due by April 15 and are to be emailed to both Pat Haddock at [email protected] and Gateway Players at [email protected].
